Craps Trends: To Believe or Not To Believe
Craps trends are one of the controversial issues in the game. Experts and authors are divided between the believers and non-believers and are presently debating over the issue in books and online.
Believe it or not, craps trends do appear and from the looks of it, they will continue to do so as long as craps is played. There are times when trends are beneficial to our bets and they are said to be hot. When they do not benefit our bets they are said to be cold trends. If trends are disregarded we miss a lot of opportunities that favor wins and which are seldom.
If we tend to deny trends, how do we visualize a non-trend result? If we have 5 wins, that's a trend. If we have 4 or 3, it's still a trend. If we have two, we have a short trend. If we have onewell, one dice throw in craps would surely be followed by another dice throw. There's no craps game where there's only one dice throw. If we picture win-lose games alternately, that's still a trend. Let's have it "random:" if we have 1 win, 2 losses, another win, three losses, then a win, then a win, then two losses and another one win, then we have a choppy "trend." Any way we try to perceive wins and losses, there's bound to be a discernible trend.
Hence, if we just choose to play with the flow (or trend), we must know how to deal with craps trends. We either deal with triggered or passive trends. Triggered trends are played by conscious shooters who influence dice results at will, or non-conscious dice rollers who derive trends in their plays through their skills. Passive trends are those that random or non-skilled shooters derive, most of them non-believers in trends. They're there just to try their luck. And they make up most of craps players. When we have identified who's who in trends setting, then we have solved the first problem.
Next is to pre-determine craps trends. Trends do not announce their first and last appearances. Unlike the weather that shows signs of changing, craps trends just happen and abruptly change. So we try to pre-determine them. Two successive wins or losses are often a basis for pre-determining them.
It doesn't matter what we believe about trends. We're stuck with them as long as craps is played with dice throwing.
